Director's Note
2008 Was Another Busy Year At The Lighthouse Each year we encounter new struggles, as well as receive new blessings. In 2008 we were
blessed with some unexpected grants, donations and generous volunteers including these
providers:
Parkview Whitley Hospital ESG
Super NOFA Drug Free Indiana
United Way Lutheran Foundation
Whitley County Community Foundation
In 2008 we had 185 new referrals and over 50% of those
referred moved in and agreed to work our program at The
Lighthouse.
Our goal at The Lighthouse is to help those in need find
long term housing and establish financial sustainability.
It is our goal to help each of our clients become selfsufficient
financially and to counsel them in the areas of
parenting, self-esteem, diet, health and other various
areas.
We only work with those referred that are desiring this
type of assistance. Those who are not ready to do the
hard work toward self-sufficiency usually decide not to
commit to the rules.
Client successes in 2009:
* 36 clients found permanent housing
* 22 clients secured employment
* 4 clients purchased their own vehicles
* 32 clients attended daily classes including self-sufficiency, self-esteem/abuse,
employment, budgeting, nutrition and parenting.
Through these classes and the love shown by our staff, we are able to take those that are lost
and give them true direction just like a lighthouse in a harbor is able to provide direction for
those trying to navigate through dark and foggy weather.
Thank you for all that you do to help and support The Lighthouse.
